{"id":5299,"date":"2024-09-19T23:37:49","date_gmt":"2024-09-19T23:37:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jassmine.8080.dev\/concert\/cykada-astigmatic-week\/"},"modified":"2024-09-24T23:57:24","modified_gmt":"2024-09-24T23:57:24","slug":"cykada-astigmatic-week","status":"publish","type":"concert","link":"https:\/\/jassmine.com\/en\/concert\/cykada-astigmatic-week\/","title":{"rendered":"Cykada [Astigmatic Week]"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div id=\"heading-text-block_66f351e2b56c1\" class=\"heading-text\">\n\n  <div>\n        <h2 class=\"heading-text__heading font-serif fs-24 lh-1-28 fs-dt-40 lh-1-2\">On September 11th, a short concert series called Astigmatic Week will kick off at Jassmine, where listeners will have the chance to experience the diversity of bands representing this renowned Polish label.  \r\nOn September 12th, the London-based group Cykada will return to Jassmine with new material.<\/h2>\n      <\/div>\n\n  <div>\n        <div class=\"heading-text__content fs-20 ls-0-4 lh-1-4\">\n      <p>When cicadas appear in the area, they cause a tremendous commotion. It&#8217;s hard to escape their distinctive noise, which can reach up to 120 decibels. The hypnotic, trance-like sound disappears with the insects. After their explosive debut, the buzz around the London-based musicians subsided as turbulence hit the world, and silence fell over their camp as well\u2026 Fortunately, only on the surface, because another cycle began underground \u2013 in the quiet of the studio. It was there that Cykada matured, waiting for their metamorphosis. Autumn 2023 seems like the right moment for their return, along with their long-awaited album *Metamorphosis*.<\/p>\n<p>Cykada&#8217;s debut album was highly praised by BBC, Red Bull Music, Clash Magazine, Worldwide FM, The Vinyl Factory, Qwest TV, and many others. The band has performed at numerous festivals, including Glastonbury Festival, Wilderness Festival, London Jazz Festival, Love Supreme, La D\u00e9fense Jazz Festival, and BAM Festival. They\u2019ve toured across Europe, visiting the UK, Spain, Italy, France, Poland, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Belgium.<\/p>\n<p>Cykada has crafted a unique and infectious sound, blending independent music, jazz, and electronic elements with global influences ranging from West Africa to Eastern Europe, as well as soundsystem culture. The result is a fresh, dynamic genre mashup, unlike anything we&#8217;ve heard before.
