Aaron Parks Little Big

Aaron Parks, one of the leading jazz pianists of his generation, released the third album of his band Little Big on the prestigious Blue Note Records label. The group was founded by Parks along with Tuohey, Ginyard, and drummer Tommy Crane, and the current lineup represents the most mature incarnation of the ensemble.

The album emphasizes the band’s collective identity and free musical communication, featuring compositions from all members. It was created after intensive rehearsals at Brooklyn’s ShapeShifter Lab and recordings at Dreamland Recording Studio.

“It’s closest to my vision of how the music should sound, and at the same time, something I wouldn’t have imagined on my own,” says Parks. Little Big, blending structure with improvisation, gradually moves beyond genre boundaries, incorporating influences from outside jazz while retaining freshness and creative risk.

Parks has collaborated with artists such as Kurt Rosenwinkel, Dhafer Youssef, Terri Lyne Carrington, Ambrose Akinmusire, and Marcus Miller, and co-founded James Farm with Joshua Redman, Matt Penman, and Eric Harland.
