Emma-Jean Thackray returns to Jassmine!
One of the most intriguing figures on today’s jazz scene – a composer, producer, multi-instrumentalist and DJ whose work defies any genre boundaries. Hailed by The Guardian as a “crossover star” and awarded by Jazz FM for Breakthrough of the Year and Album of the Year (Yellow, 2022), she now comes to Warsaw with her latest material.

Weirdo – her second album, released by Brownswood Recordings and Parlophone – is a kaleidoscope of grunge, funk, soul, jazz and pop, impossible to pigeonhole. It’s a story of loss, neurodivergence and the acceptance of being “different.” Emma-Jean composed, performed, recorded and mixed every note herself – turning her home isolation in South London into a musical laboratory and a form of personal therapy.

With her signature honesty, perspective and humor, she takes us on an emotional journey full of anthemic choruses, introspection and uncompromising groove. Emma-Jean Thackray is the voice of a generation of outsiders. Her music is an invitation to community – for everyone who has ever felt “weird.”
