Klawo
The Tricity septet Klawo returns to Jassmine with a new album!
Klawo’s story began with the solo album “Flądra” (2019) by Konstanty Kostka, on which the artist mainly worked with a sampler. Shortly after, Coastline Northern Cuts suggested he transform these compositions into a full-fledged band. Malina Midera, Tomasz Rafalski, Alicja Sobstyl, Artur Szalsza, and Karol Tchórz joined Kostka – and that’s how the Klawo sextet was born. Soon after the release of their debut album, the lineup expanded with drummer Jakub Krzanowski, who added more dynamics and energy to the band’s sound – something that can be heard on their live album “Live!”.
After an intense period of touring, which included shows in Poland and across Europe, Klawo is back with their second studio album. “2 Beavers and a Sunset” (“2 bobry i zachód słońca”) is the result of hours spent on the road, shared sessions, and collective work on compositions. The band stays true to their philosophy of what they call “democracy with diplomacy” – everyone contributes ideas, which are then developed together. The result is an album full of surprises.
Klawo’s new album builds on their signature approach to groove. The band draws inspiration from both ’70s funk classics and modern sounds in the vein of Thundercat, Hiatus Kaiyote, and BADBADNOTGOOD. Strong rhythms, elaborate instrumental parts, and layered synth textures come together to create energetic and unpredictable compositions.
