Kuba Więcek presents Jazz Cats plays Yusef Lateef
The beloved Jazz Cats series by Kuba Więcek has taken on a new form, dedicated to the great figures and phenomena of jazz. Join us on a journey through the history of the genre, showcasing not only extraordinary talents but also the influential moments and ideas that have shaped the world of jazz.
The next featured artist in Jazz Cats will be Yusef Lateef – an American saxophonist, flutist, multi-instrumentalist, and composer, widely regarded as a pioneer in blending jazz with world music. As early as the 1950s, he was incorporating influences from Middle Eastern, African, and Asian music into his work, expanding the boundaries of jazz both sonically and spiritually. Known for his experimental spirit and profound approach to music as a form of inner exploration, he created a unique sonic language that continues to inspire generations of artists. His albums, such as Eastern Sounds and The Centaur and the Phoenix, are prime examples of visionary, forward-thinking jazz. Although he passed away in 2013, his vision of jazz as a universal and open art form remains deeply relevant today.
