Ólafur Arnalds’ OPIA presents: Sofi Paez, YANA
Ólafur Arnalds’ OPIA presents: Sofi Paez, YANA, 4.04, Warszawa, Jassmine.
OPIA is a project initiated and endorsed by the renowned composer and producer Ólafur Arnalds. The Grammy-nominated Icelandic artist created this platform to foster collaboration among young creators and strengthen the scene where contemporary and classical music meet electronics. OPIA functions as a traveling festival series, a record label, and a community hub supporting diverse initiatives and dialogue.
On April 4, 2025, the OPIA concert series will make its debut in Poland! The extraordinary space of Jassmine in Warsaw will host two exceptional artists associated with OPIA: Sofi Paez and YANA.
- Sofi Paez is a Costa Rican artist who has been living in Berlin for years. Known for her dreamy, evocative sound, Sofi blends organic piano melodies with electronic textures. A classically trained pianist, she began composing after discovering the works of Nils Frahm, Ólafur Arnalds, and Hania Rani. She quickly caught the attention of Askjell—a producer known for his work with Aurora—who invited her into the studio. With the support of Ólafur Arnalds, she performed at the intimate opening of the OPIA Community in Berlin. Paez’s personality is deeply embedded in her debut album, Silent Stories. Her unique style is defined by a delicate balance between conflicting emotional needs and the harmony that comes from embracing both darkness and light.
- YANA is the first Polish artist signed under OPIA. Joanna Bieńkowska, a talented instrumentalist and composer from Gdańsk, has gained recognition for her distinctive fusion of classical instruments and electronic music. Her debut album, Solace (2022), opened doors to collaborations with acclaimed artists like Robot Koch and appearances on prestigious platforms such as Director’s Library and Piano Day by Nils Frahm. On her second solo album, Daydreamer, YANA delves even deeper into the emotional landscapes that define our inner lives. Released in October 2024 under the OPIA Community label, the album was recorded at the iconic Studio S4 of Polish Radio in Warsaw. Its rich sound is the result of lush string arrangements blended with atmospheric electronic elements.
