Peter Evans EXTRA feat. Petter Eldh & Jim Black
New York trumpeter and composer Peter Evans has known Swedish bassist Petter Eldh and American drummer Jim Black for quite some time. He played with Eldh in the legendary quartet AMOK AMOR, while he brought Black into the studio for the first time in 2010 to produce his album *GHOSTS*.
What connects the three of them is the desire not only to utilize conventional parameters of improvisation but also to experiment with those that are not common and everyday — such as timbre, dynamics, or form and structure. Additionally, Evans, Eldh, and Black have a very specific vision of how the performance of improvised music should be organized and how its outcome should sound. Evans’s compositions open up new spaces for the spontaneity of free improvisation and the expressive sensitivity of chamber music, while also integrating the creative use of electronic music by Eldh and Black.
