Azymuth & Bruno Berle
A Brazilian trio blending jazz and funk returns to Europe with previously unreleased recordings from the early 1970s, now issued through the London-based label Far Out Recordings. Joining them on stage will be Bruno Berle, a rising star in Brazilian music.
Founded in 1968 in Rio de Janeiro, the band Azymuth is credited with creating a completely new sound, blending jazz-funk with samba, which became known as “samba doido” (crazy samba).
After recording over 30 albums during an astonishing 50-year career, their latest release, Fênix, served as a catalyst for their return to the international stage, once again proving why they are widely regarded as Brazil’s most accomplished band.
Azymuth live is a journey through the full spectrum of their vividly expressive funk, infused with cosmic energy and the masterful musicianship expected from the world’s greatest three-piece orchestra.
Bruno Berle, a musician from Maceió in northeastern Brazil, is known for his unique fusion of tropical soul and Música Popular Brasileira (MPB). His album No Reino Dos Afetos showcases his high vocals in charming, lo-fi Brazilian love songs, with ambient, warm, home-recorded beats. His compositions are unconventional, rich in nuance and detail, evoking comparisons to Caetano Veloso’s avant-garde album Araçá Azul.
