Emma Rawicz
“An astonishing new talent” (Jamie Cullum), “Emma will be on everyone’s lips” (BBC 3), “A force to be reckoned with” (Jazzwise).
At just twenty-one years old, Emma Rawicz is making significant strides in her career while still studying at the Royal Academy of Music. The saxophonist from North Devon has led her band at international festivals and organized a seventeen-concert tour across the UK. She has headlined at Ronnie Scott’s, won the Parliamentary Jazz Award for Newcomer of the Year 2022, and was a finalist in the BBC Young Jazz Musician competition.
Emma’s debut album for ACT, *Chroma*, marks an important step, showcasing her wide-ranging musical interests and deep inspirations from saxophonists such as Joe Henderson and Wayne Shorter.
As a synesthete, Emma experiences music as colors, which inspired the album title *Chroma* and the names of individual tracks. Songs like “Phlox,” “Xanadu,” “Rangwali,” and “Viridian” highlight her creative diversity and collaborative spirit.
Emma Rawicz is a rising star, and she will be performing at Jassmine this September.
