Legendary American organist Ronnie Foster recorded his frequently sampled albums for Blue Note Records in the 1970s, earning himself the title of one of the most iconic musicians of all time.

After moving to New York, Ronnie performed with many musicians, often collaborating with guitarist George Benson, Grant Green, Grover Washington Jr., Stanley Turrentine, Roberta Flack, Earl Klugh, Harvey Mason, Jimmy Smith, and Stevie Wonder.

Ronnie Foster’s return to Blue Note Records in 2022 was a synergistic event. His new album, ‘Reboot,’ was released on the 50th anniversary of his debut, ‘Two Headed Freap,’ which was also reissued as part of the Classic Vinyl Series. ‘Two Headed Freap’ featured the track ‘Mystic Brew,’ which was sampled by A Tribe Called Quest in ‘Electric Relaxation’ from their 1994 album ‘Midnight Marauders.’

Ronnie recorded his new album at Capitol Studios in Hollywood, where he first worked in 1976, recording ‘Breezin” with George Benson. ‘Blue Note has always represented the art of jazz,’ Foster enthuses. ‘I grew up on Blue Note, listening to all the greats.’

Ronnie Foster, carrying the Blue Note torch as an organist, is one of the last ‘greats,’ thanks in part to his enduring curiosity that keeps him at the forefront of the scene behind the elegant Hammond XK-5.
